5 Phases of Design

Building digital spaces

Architect an Irresistible Website

Just as spectacular buildings need a strong architectural plan and sound columns and beams, so do websites. With a background in art and architecture, we follow a similar design process for the websites we build.

Phase 01

Conceptual Design + Project Definition

New construction doesn’t begin without a detailed plan; neither does your website. Planning and strategizing begin with the conceptual design phase. It’s here we ensure collaboration between the project manager, web designer, and stakeholders to identify key goals and needs that are tailored to our client’s desired aesthetic.

The Outcome

  • Provide a comprehensive timeline and clear project plan for an effective web strategy to distinguish the client’s value
  • Establish a competitive edge
  • Ensure that all goals for the website are met

Site Structure + Information Architecture

At this point, we deeply understand the target audience, unique value proposition, and strategic opportunities. Now it’s time to move into user experience (UX) and information architecture (IA) — and here’s where the fun begins! This is the stage of the project where we get to start connecting all the pieces in a roadmap, similar to a blueprint.

The Outcome

  • Website layout, features, functionalities, and user path flows are identified
  • Specification document is wireframed and documented

Phase 03

Visual Design Development

With the branding foundation set and website framework completed, it’s time to put the design vision together. Creativity meets usability as we design around our comprehensive blueprint. These visual design mock-ups go beyond basic colors and fonts, to show button styling, the use of images, and creative elements that help bring the storyboards to life. Ultimately, this phase gives clients a glimpse of what the website will look and function like.

The Outcome

  • Website design mockups give clients a firsthand look at how the site will look and operate

Phase 04

Website Development

After all the intensive planning and web design work, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as watching it all come to life! The final design becomes a working reality as we implement the latest web technology and usability best practices. Content is entered, development and coding are complete, and now you have a website that’s fully functional and expresses your company’s unique vision. At this stage, form truly meets function.

The Outcome

  • Website coding, functionality, and development are complete

Phase 05

Testing + Launch

A successful website launch doesn’t happen with just the flip of a switch. Instead, extensive testing ensures typos, bugs, or any incompatibilities are addressed prior to launch.

Additionally, the website launch itself requires careful planning alongside marketing efforts so everyone is on the same page.

But the launch still doesn’t end there — post-launch, we continue to closely monitor site usage and reported issues.

The Outcome

  • Final testing for errors or website incompatibility
  • Collaborative and cohesive launch efforts across the entire marketing team
  • Post-launch usability and error monitoring
